15 December 2009 - 14:10Al Qaeda Attacks – The New Economic Stimulus Package

I have long held that one of the reasons that we have not suffered an attack within the United States since 9/11 from Al Qaeda is due to the belief the mere threat of them is the actual attack. Bin Laden has stated he wants to attack us by all means possible, including economic attacks. Since the occurrence of 9/11, he and his organization have been able to be the bully on the block, forcing us to respond in what we believe to be an appropriate response to their threats. This response mechanism has caused us to spend hundreds of millions of dollars, and upwards of 1 billion dollars of economic impact for isolated incidents.

If you recall the events surrounding the Republican National Convention, held in New York City, the security for that one event had an economic impact in excess of 1 billion dollars. All this based on a simple threat, a reaction, and hysteria perpetrated by our own society. The issue is not as complex as some would like us to believe. We are now in a situation where a simple threat causes us to exaggerate our response and cost ourselves billions.

Tactically, he – Bin Laden, is a master. He and his group can stand on the front porch of their cave, claim to want to attack us and we respond with such a response we attack ourselves. They never leave the front porch and we spend billions. Does anyone see this? Can it be this simple?

KSM and his group have asked to be tried in NYC. The President directs the Justice Department to try the terrorists in New York. The hard dollar costs are outrageous. The extended economic impact is virtually immeasurable. Does anyone see a pattern here? Add to this the new discussions about a second terrorist trial in Brooklyn New York possibly being held concurrently to the first one.

So I ask – is it not bad enough where verbal threats from Al Qaeda cause us to attack our economy by billions of dollars that we now have to help them by creating situations where we develop the threat for them? Or maybe it’s even simpler than that…it's just the President’s way of creating economic stimulus. Must we really be this helpful
